Re: LiveCode 8 Question
1--Livecode 8 is not stable yet. 2--To open an LC 8 stack in LC 7, you will have to save it first as a legacy (LC 5.5 or 2.7 or 2.4) stack. This can break things from my experience if you use functionality that was not in earlier versions. 3--I would open a copy of my project in LC8 and see how it g...

Re: Livecode: observations
Any grounds to remain optimistic? Tim In my case, No. After using LC for 8 years and trying to get others interested in Livecode, I have had similar experiences. Sadly I am starting to agree with some of their opinions. The best part of Livecode is the community of users; but IMO Livecode itself do...

Re: Prevent users on using ctrl+alt+del to crash master stac
Hi, For programs running on kiosks, one method of preventing ctrl+alt+del is to remove the keyboard and provide an onscreen keyboard that does not include the ctr or alt keys. Tom B. This, or a special keyboard. There are other ways to call up the task manager you would have to block :-) You can us...

Re: Recently we've been investing ....[SOLVED?]
Here's from an LC user that is leaving....I'm not going to "lock in" I'm like most people. Changing the conditions of licensing or raising the price of any product makes me rethink whether the product delivers good value for me. Every time I purchase an LC licence it seems to have a new name -- Why?...

Re: Recently we've been investing heavily in product develop
I agree with everything sefrojones,Newbie4,AndyP and Sparkout said Here's a few more points... I'd like Runrev to stop making promises they can't keep. A promised Android Externals SDK was quietly forgotten years ago. Now we are being promised that widgets in Livecode 8 are going to magically replac...

The Livecode Indie price will rise to $499 after july 24th
Received email from Runrev containing a "special offer".
The Livecode Indie price will rise to $499 after july 24th.
BUT you can lock in before then at $299 -- special price at $499 for two years.

Xcode 7 -- can run app on own device without paying $99
From Xcode 7 "What's new" info https://developer.apple.com/xcode/ "Now everyone can get their app on their Apple device. Xcode 7 and Swift now make it easier for everyone to build apps and run them directly on their Apple devices. Simply sign in with your Apple ID, and turn your idea into an app tha...

Re: Oh so frustrating... apk preparation failed
Hi Jim, Try an earlier version of Android SDK Build-tools. My version is 19.0.3. After you do this can you get LC to output an APK using save as standalone? -- see attached shot of my Android SDK manager... sdk manager setup.png My setup is Windows 7 Pro Android root is C:/android/sdk JDK version is...

Re: help me I need text to speech on android
As Mark says you need an external. Unfortunately, there is no Android Externals SDK from Runrev, so how to make Android externals will be complex and undocumented. I don't know of anyone making Android externals that will give you text to speech on Android. IMO -- if you really must have text to spe...

Re: Converting from VB6 programming language
Is there a utility to convert/migrate from VB6 ? If you are an experienced Basic user and would rather stay with using Basic, have a look at Basic4Android, now called B4A. They also make B4i for iOS devices, and B4J (free) can produce compiled apps that can run on Windows, Mac, Linux and ARM boards...
