[OT] Sat May 12: Games@CalTech/MIT Enterprise forum

Post by FourthWorld » Thu May 10, 2012 3:33 pm

On the second Saturday of each month the CalTech/MIT Enterprise Forum hosts panel discussions on a variety of tech issues at the Baxter Lecture Hall on the CalTech campus.

This month's panel is all about new trends in games:
Developments in technology have forever changed the gaming industry and the way video games are developed, distributed, and played. The Internet and mobile devices have allowed gaming to move well beyond the confines of the classic arcade cabinet. Social, education, and hardcore games are now distributed wirelessly to handheld devices, the free-to-play/virtual goods model has transformed how publishers monetize game titles, and crowd-sourced funding has proven to be a viable source of financing for independent game developers.

From social/casual games mobile games to massive multiplayer online games, the gaming industry has never offered more opportunity for the entrepreneur. With the worldwide video game industry projected to continue to grow in the coming years and reach $70.1 billion by 2015, what is next and where can entrepreneurs get into this market?

Come to this Enterprise Forum for an overview of the video game industry, followed by a panel discussion of how companies are getting in the game by taking advantage of these new opportunities in the gaming world.
The cost is $40 prepaid and $50 at the door. Today is the last day for online prepayment, so if you want to attend you can save by signing up now:

In addition to great panel discussions, they offer refreshments the hour before the panel for some great networking opportunities - meet other devs, investors, recruiters, and more.

Hope to see you there -
