That would be awesome. Heck, split the gas and driving with Scott Rossi, Mark Wieder, and anyone else you can fit in your car and it'd be easy to do and we'd have one heckuva party.Simon wrote:Wow,

16 hours in a car with Rossi and Wieder!
My head would explode!
Actually the second I read your post I was looking for campgrounds within an hour or two of the event (Big outdoors fan here). I have my rockin cool Westfalia that's just itching to get out. If I can make it I'll be the one smelling of campfire smoke.

Re: SPECIAL MEETING: Q&A with Kevin Miller, Sept 12
This is technically a "trail camp" but in this case the "trail" is about 50 yards from where you park your car:
http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/angeles/ ... 6&actid=29
It's probably the closest camping to Pasadena you'll find (it's right over the hill from the city's north edge), but call the ranger station number there first to make sure it's open, and that it's accessible after 9PM.
There may be other camping options as well, but not so much car camping as backpacking. One spot I know is only a mile through the woods, on a well-marked trail not difficult to follow at night (there are a couple stream crossings, but the water's low right now and with hiking poles it's easy to cross safely and stay dry). If that sort of thing appeals, feel free to drop me a note at ambassador at fourthworld.com.

Hi,
Will Kevin be there physically, in person, or will he do a video presentation remotely, while being in a different place, say Scotland?
Kind regards,
Mark

Yep, Kevin will be here live and in person. He's traveling through California for business, so the schedule just happened to work out unusually well for the group.

Richard,
This was a fantastic event.
Please express my thanks to Kevin for coming to our So Cal Users Group Meeting!
This is the type of thing that re-ignites enthusiasm in using products.
All of you CEO's and High Level Execs should take this as a valuable lesson to invigorate or even re-invigorate your user or customer base.
In this world of emails, texting and tweeting the personal touch is truly a missing element.
And thanks again to you Richard for helping or making this happen.

Re: SPECIAL MEETING: Q&A with Kevin Miller, Sept 12
And thanks to you, Clarence, and all the others who came out to make it a grand reception for Kevin.
It was indeed a very informative and enjoyable time. I love the newsletters and reading Mark Waddinham's comments here in the Engine Development forum, but for planning our own product features almost nothing beats having Kevin available for a few hours of open Q&A.
I very much appreciate all of you making the effort to come from as far as San Diego and even the Bay area for this meeting. I hope you'll join us again in future meetings on the first Thursday of each month - we won't have Kevin for those, but we will have good feature demos, problem-solving, and great conversation in the company of friends.

Maybe we should kidnap him and make him telecommute.

Any chance you could provide a summary of the meeting, for those of us who couldn't make it? Wish you could have videotaped it.
