Getting iOS to work

Post by caz3000 » Sun Jun 26, 2011 9:45 am

Hi, I've just started to use my trial version of LiveCode and are trying to see how easy it is to build a sample iphone App.

I have the latest version of XCode 4 that I downloaded from Apple by joining the developer program last week, and I built a test program in XCode 4 and ran it on the simulator so I know that works.

However, I can't seem to get LiveCode to work with iOS.

In the LiveCode preferences I've got /Developer in the developer root for iOS 3.2 and above, and nothing for the developer root for iOS 3.1.3.

Then in my Standalone Application Settings I went to the iOS tab and clicked Build for iOS. However, when I try to select a Profile, nothing happens. On the bottom right of this window there is a band that says 'This is a trial Buy Deployment Addon'.

What am I doing wrong?

Is there something I need to set up with Apple? Or does this function not work on the trial version? Or something else?

Can anyone help?

I figured it out. I had to go to XCode and open up the Developer documentation, then plug in a device (eg. my iPad), which prompted it to create a profile. Now I can select the profile in Livecode and all is good! :D

I'm running out of ideas with LiveCode implementation of super restricted functionality (at the mo) with Android.

So just wondering about moving to LiveCode for iOS research.

Is there an emulator for iPhone and iPad 2 and iPod?

Might have to reconsider LiveCode iOS Developer Program.

Barry,

Download the iOS SDK from Apple. It comes with an iPhone/iPad simulator.

If you are making apps for own use, you might want to stick with Android, since you'll need to pay Apple for your dev account every year.

What are the worst restrictions for you?

Kind regards,

Mark

Excellent!

Hightest priority LiveCode Android Retrictions over the last week are:

Access to video, contacts, mail, keyboards.
Pretty much anything to do with Android.
BlueTooth to BlueTooth connection.
LiveCode Web
connecting SQLite over inTRAnet

All may be the same restrictions with LiveCode for iOS.
