This sounds a lot like Scripters Scrapbook - which I received with the Omega Bundle.

Right now, I still have text files all over the place with tiny chunks of code.

You're right. I noticed that. Lets just say the Summer Academy made a huge difference in my LC abilities. Plus, I think it has matured considerably (or I have, one or the other :-))

Me too. The ssb is too busy for me. I want something clean, simple and uncluttered, which is why I was intrigued by the dialog about My Script Collector (plus, as Bernd mentioned, it sounds like it had some neat techniques in it).

I may have to write my own...

Hi Bernd, long time no read! Hope you are well, and the rest of the community too.

I haven't been using Rev (now LiveCode of course) for quite a while... my creative pursuits are elsewhere for now.

All the best to you!

I dug out a copy of My Script Collector.

Hi Mark, you are welcome for a copy of My Script Collector. I'll say again, it wouldn't have been possible without the excellent help and advice of Bernd and Mark.

I opened it and re-saved it in my copy of LiveCode. What would be the best way for you to get the zipped stack, any thoughts?

I thought at the time that I made it,that it would be nice for anyone in the Rev community to refine it, and I guess that still stands. I seem to remember it did it's job but I'm sure there could be some improvements all the same.

Best of luck to everyone and I might surprise myself and get stuck into Livecode again at some stage in the future; I had at least 7 projects on the go at the time, all in different states of progression. Quite nice apps they would have been - I like to think - if I had gotten around to finishing them! ;-)

:-)

You can attach files here (see the "Upload attachment" tab below) or post the stack to revOnline using the IDE.

Hi Mark, are you still interested in the My Script Collector stack; or will you be writing your own?

... Rev can be wonderful one day and downright frustrating the next...
LOL! So true! 2 year later. LOL!

Hi gyroscope,

I'd be interested in a copy of My Script Collector.

If you haven't sorted a way to share with the members I'd be happy to host on my web site.
Only with your permission of course.

I've been looking at incorporating code examples into BvG Doco 2.
But keep running out of time.

Hi Barry

I've put a copy of My Script Collector into Dropbox for you (and anyone else who'd like a copy of it):

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14060718/MY%20S ... vecode.zip

I'd be glad for you to host it on your website, thanks! (If you wouldn't mind putting my website address there also, that'd be appreciated: http://davidgriffinauthor.co.uk/ ; and give me the link)

If you or anyone else amends/improves the stack, I'd be interested to see it.

Hope you find it useful.

:-)

Hi David, thanks for the kind offer and for reconnecting with the group. I drift in and out of here only occasionally and do not read all the threads so I was very pleasantly surprised to see that you had popped in and updated your script collector to LC. Currently I am still planning on doing one but at my current pace I'll have missed a lot of code-capture opportunities (oh, there is a hint in there :D ) before its done so I'd love to use another one in the meantime. While I have mine roughly mapped out completing it is really the task, and primarily as a learning opportunity I suspect.

I'm gonna go grab it while its still available. Thanks

Hi David, I've tried running it but it seems to always create an error when I use the "New" button (beyond the first category)?

Hi Mark

I had a quick look; it seems to break down at setting the focus of the title field. I guess it can't focus the field because all of the title fields are locked. If you unlock the field, it all works OK.

Which leads to me to wonder if there was a reason that I locked the fields in the first place. It was quite a few years ago now, but I have a vague memory that the title fields were meant to toggle between locked and unlocked for a particular reason.

So in the meantime, unlocking the title fields will do the trick, though as I say, this might cause problems with them all permanently unlocked. Maybe you'll discover the reason for this; when I've a bit more time, I'll take a closer look.

Ok great, that should get me started and then if I run into any other problems I'll let you know. Thanks for the quick reply.
